| 1972 Rotary Electrical was founded as a partnership, with Chia Kim Piow as the Managing Director. The company catered to oil refineries and petrochemical plants in Singapore. 1975 Rotary Electrical was privatized, enabling the company to bid for more substantial projects. 1980 Rotary Engineering was incorporated into a private limited company, catering to further expansion plans. 1983 Rotary Engineering acquired Rotary Electrical in an amalgamation exercise. Rotarys core business activities extended to include civil, structural, mechanical equipment installation and piping works. Thereby, developing itself as a full service turnkey engineering and contracting company. 1993 Rotary Engineering was listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore, forming Rotary Engineering Limited. The company was relocated to Tuas, consolidating all technical and service departments. 1995 Rotary Engineering Limited achieved ISO 9001 certification. Electrical, mechanical and civil divisions were incorporated as subsidiaries. 1996 S$100 million turnover was achieved. Regionalisation efforts extended to Indonesia and India. 2000 A single contract of S$100 million was awarded to Rotary Engineering Limited from Oiltanking Singapore for its Chem 1 & 2 and Phase IV expansion. 2001 Rotary Integrated Maintenance Centre on Jurong Island fully operational. Japan and China representative offices set up to increase regional reach. Rotary Pharma Pte Ltd was formed to target the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry in Singapore. 2002 Rotary Engineering (Qatar) W.L.L. was formed to better target projects in the Middle East.
